GrrrFriend: Puppy Love
This week’s cartoon is now up at TheGloss. Take a look—it could change your life.  Probably not, though.  Still. (Fun Fact*: the art on this one looks a little different from the last few strips because this cartoon was actually completed before I switched over to making the whole thing on the computer) *Disclaimer: “Fun Fact” may not actually be fun.

GrrrFriend: Glengarry Glen GrrrFriend
Time for a new comic, Tumblr people.  I was about to write that I really liked the way this one turned out, but then I noticed a dumb lettering error towards the end.  Argh.  As usual, check out the rest at TheGloss.com.

Check out the my newest GrrrFriend comic strip over at TheGloss. It’s the comic that has semi-anonymous internet poster Heather raving: “Can I say how much I really hate this comic?“  Oy… P.S. if you’re curious, the magazine she’s reading is titled “Progesterone Monthly.”

GrrrFriend: The Pep Talk
The newest installment of “GrrrFriend” is up over at TheGloss—check it out! Here are some rave reviews from my fans: “I can’t tell if it’s pedophiliac fantasies or just good ol’ fashioned infantilization of women.” “It seems, reading most of his comics about “Grr – friend,” that he is trying to impress upon us that she is both childish and bitchy.” ...

Odds and Ends
Hi Blog, Been busy lately with a bunch of stuff, but I wanted to provide a brief update. First off, I put up a portfolio website, which you can view at http://wackyfuncomics.arloartists.com/ Once I figure out how, I plan to link this site and that one together (even the simplest of programming tricks is like magic to me…). Next point of interest: A book I did some illustrations for,...

Hi Hulk
Well, with Poison Ivy earlier this week and the Hulk today, I guess I’ve got a green theme going on here.  Maybe I’ll try my hand at Green Lantern next, or perhaps a can of spinach.  Or an envious dude. Hoping to get some honest-to-goodness comics up soon, rather than these pin-up sketches (which are pretty much exercises to help me gain proficiency coloring and using...

Black and White and Red All Over
For those unfamiliar, pictured above is Harley Quinn, a character introduced for “Batman: The Animated Series” in the mid-90s. So here’s the thing—as soon as I decided I wanted to draw Harley, a variation of this pose popped into my head. I had the gist of the staging—Harley laying down on her belly, head closest to the “camera”—but I...

I Can Haz Super-Villian
Alright, so here’s a wee little Catwoman doodle that I banged out last night.  Then I manhandled it in Photoshop while experimenting with brushes and textures.  Oh well, no big loss…and I may have actually learned something in process.

Why Is My Childhood Dying?
Hello Blog, longtime no see.  The last couple of weeks have seen the passing of Gary Coleman and Rue McClanahan, two comedy icons of the 1980s.  One played a rambunctious kid from the streets taken in by a rich benefactor while the other played a geriatric sexpot living out her golden years in the company of friends.  I forget who played which role, but they each had a huge presence in my...

Wonder of Wonders
Here’s DC Comics’ celebrated Amazon princess, Wonder Woman.  As I sketched this out, I realized she’s tough to pose properly.  She’s supposed to be a warrior, but it’s hard to find a dynamic action pose that doesn’t make her look too masculine.  On the other hand, it would have been easy to do a cheesecake-type pose, but that wouldn’t be true to the...

MVP
I like basketball.  I like the New York Knicks.  The Knicks have not been good recently.  Lebron James has been very good recently.  He was just named MVP of the NBA and may be looking for a new team next year.  I would like Lebron James to be very good on the New York Knicks.  This is a picture of what that might look like. This one started as a quick pencil sketch that I decided to bring...

Wolverine
Happy Tuesday Evening!  Here’s a portrait of Marvel Comics’ massively popular mutant, Wolverine…and he looks like he’s mere moments away from popping out his adamantium claws.  Actually, I left the claws out with the plan of adding them in later, with photoshop, just haven’t gotten around to doing that yet.  Here’s the pre-color, inked version, for those...

Wacky Fun Comics: The World of Tomorrow!
In today’s new Wacky Fun Comic, our pal Steve gives us a glimpse at the world of the not-too-distant future.  In fact, some of this stuff is already happening.  I’m sure you’ve all read the newspaper stories about the Cyborg Lincoln project, and you can already order your own pair of baby shoes online from Zappos.  “Baby Shoes—for that baby-soft feeling!”

Rodney Redux
The other week I posted a quick, 30-second scribble (plus another minute for colors) of Rodney Dangerfield.  The man had such a great face that I knew I would need to draw it again.  Here are two sketches I came up with last night (still playing with the brush pen).  There will be more, I’d wager.

Playing around with different styles…here’s the not-so-jolly green giant, the Incredible Hulk.  He’s fun to draw because you can basically do anything you want with his face as long as he looks angry.  In case anyone’s interested, I’m also posting the pencils and inks (color done in photoshop).

Wacky Fun Comics: Meet Derek
Today’s newest wacky fun comic introduces Steve’s arch-nemesis, Derek.  Needless to say, this is only the first installment in what promises to be a high-stakes game of cat and mouse.  Derek is based on my own arch-nemesis, Derek.  Derek is probably the worst person on the planet, and if there is any justice in the world, he will meet a terrible, terrible fate.  Also, he likes to...
